The Nuclear Football a Party Favor?

It has been two weeks since my last post here on the blog. I apologize for slacking but, I’ve been a little depressed and empty of words that make sense or, at least seem to have meaning.     I had intended to keep the politics off this site and use HuffPost for all of that but, I know many of you are political junkies like me and share the same views. I’m sure those who don’t have left this cyberspace a while back. That’s fine with me! I feel bad for anyone who has ties to drumpf fans

Secret Gardens

I’ve been asked to chair a committee here in Cape May for the 2nd annual Secret Garden Tour. It’s part of the Cape May Forum and last year I participated by providing a painting of mine that was auctioned off, as well as helping to set up the luncheon after the garden tour.     The baton has been passed to me and, to be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed with the responsibility. Things went smoothly, from my view, last year and raised a decent amount of money which goes toward educational and cultural initiatives through affiliate programs

The Women’s March, an International Statement!

All hail the Women’s Marches all over the world! If anyone doubted this was a movement they underestimated us BIGLY. It was awe inspiring! I was thrilled to be a part of this movement with my husband by my side. Dave with our sign. We left home at 8 am and got to Philly at 9:30 am. We were able to park in our church parking lot, which was a blessing. No pun intended. It was a straight walk up to Market St. to get the T and head to where the action was taking place. The trains were

There’s Going To Be Some Changes Made…

Here we are in inauguration week and, I don’t know about you but, I’m in kind of a funk. I’ve decided to keep my politics on Huffington Post and try to stay more upbeat here on my blog. I will share the links and hope you’ll read the posts there, but if you are weary of politics I understand. Here’s the latest one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/587d22fce4b094e1aa9dc89b?timestamp=1484686269968   That said, I would like to ask all of you how you’re handling this new world order. Dave and I are planning to join the Women’s March in Philadelphia on Saturday, which I hope

A Heartache Tonight

Part of me can’t wait for 2016 to morph into 2017 and another part of me is fearful of how much worse it’s going to be. I see nothing good coming from this transition of power. I am and have been determined to push back at every opportunity to hold this new regime’s feet to the fire but, lately, I’ve become very sad. I’m not a crier by nature. Crying never helped me through any of the tough times in my past but, suddenly the slightest thing puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Many

Christmas Memories

Christmas is upon us. I’ve had a lifetime of dealing with good ones and bad ones.   With the revolving door of father’s in my life growing up, you never really knew what Christmas would bring and, I’m not just talking about presents. Up until the age of five, it was my grandparents who filled in the Santa role. My mother was on her third husband by then and since her second one didn’t want me living with them I lived with my grandparents. My father was long gone and I have no memory of Christmas with him. I’m

We’re All in this Together

I’m exhausted and I know so many of you all are, too. I find myself questioning everything. So much fake news and misleading articles you don’t know what to believe anymore. Snopes is our friend. Please check your sources. Don’t be part of the problem. That doesn’t help the feeling of unrest in our core, but we have to be vigilant. Call bullshit when you see it.     The one thing we can be sure of is our ‘President Elect’ is a twelve-year-old with a twitter account. You may not be able to discern real from faux news

A Little Trip in the Wayback Machine Might Help Us All Feel Better

I know most of you, my loyal followers, are in the same stunned sense of disbelief I am. Well, I thought I would share this post from way back in April of 2013 to perhaps, make us feel a bit more hopeful that this won’t be the apocalypse we’re collectively fearing. Be sure to read the links, too. If you’ve forgotten the Dubya era, as I know I’ve tried to, this may give you some hope for the future. We have our system of checks and balances in this democracy to thank and rely on. Be sure to read the links, too.

Love and Sanity trump Hate!

This will likely be my last political post for this election season. I hope. It has been a mind-boggling struggle that became more mind-boggling as it progressed. I, like many others, never took the orange buffoon seriously from the beginning. How could anyone take him seriously? He, the reality show blowhard with the worst comb-over in History running for President of the United States?? Come on! Mind you, I wouldn’t have voted for anyone on the Republican debate stage but, the orange buffoon was like comic relief. Until it wasn’t funny any longer. I came of age in the

Jobs, I’ve Had a Few…part 3

When the modeling agency closed it didn’t take me long to become bored. A couple of my friends started teaching aerobic dance in the evenings at the school gym and I loved helping them come up with routines. I didn’t get paid for it, but I got the classes for free and was in the best shape of my life. That alone was worth it! I miss that body…sigh.     Anyway, someone contacted me about a woman’s health spa that was for sale. Once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur, so they say, or as someone once said, “An
