Excerpt From the Memoir

I’ve been so busy with Cosmo’s book, and other projects, I’ve neglected the memoir. It may seem strange to be working on a children’s book and a memoir at the same time but, one helps balance out the other and kind of cleanses the emotions. Here is an excerpt from the memoir introducing my mother’s fourth husband. He was a real charmer. Any and all critiques are welcome.   Les It was the fourth husband, who verified my instincts about people. I had him pegged the moment I laid eyes on him in the stairwell. His name was Les. He worked

How to Write About Losing a Pet in a Children’s Book.

I recently received an email from a lovely woman asking about The Duffy Chronicles. She bought the book in 2009 and recently read it with her nine-year-old son. She told me she had searched high and low online for the next two in the series and couldn’t find them. Could I help? Well, if I had written them by now that would have helped but, I had not. Sometimes life gets in the way of our loftiest goals and between a couple of moves and elder care, the time flew by. I thanked her profusely for reading the

Gratitude and Peace… A Shift in Attitude

Today I feel like sharing randomness. The insanity in our country today is taking a toll on many of us…too many of us. I’m an admitted news junkie and all about anything that is anti-drumpf, but it’s time to focus more on the positive things in life and get back to gratitude. Mind you, I’m still going to follow the news and obsess about things like why was Jill Stein at that infamous dinner in Russia with Putin and Flynn? When will a ‘deep throat’ show up to get this circus out of our lives and in jail? Admittedly,

Who’s Running This Circus?

I’m beginning to feel we’re living in a three ring circus. One ring is cruel to animals, another testing the limits of human flexibility and, of course, the ring full of clowns. This is not Barnum and Bailey, it’s our government. Talk about ‘SAD’.     The orange clown only cares about ‘winning’ but, he hasn’t been doing it much lately. When plan A goes down the toilet let’s try plan B and, whatever you do, don’t put my name on it! I don’t know about you but, when I first heard of ‘The Freedom Caucus’, I thought they

Never Give Up!

It has been a rough week for me. I blame drumpf.     Dave got a cold and I got bronchitis. Don’t ask me why because, if I knew that I could defend against it. It’s been a few years since I’ve had this perpetual coughing jag and I wasn’t missing it, that’s for sure. Of course, I waited until I simply couldn’t take the coughing any longer before I went to the doctor. After a good listen to the rattling chest she came back into the room with a nebulizer for me to suck on while she ordered up

The Nuclear Football a Party Favor?

It has been two weeks since my last post here on the blog. I apologize for slacking but, I’ve been a little depressed and empty of words that make sense or, at least seem to have meaning.     I had intended to keep the politics off this site and use HuffPost for all of that but, I know many of you are political junkies like me and share the same views. I’m sure those who don’t have left this cyberspace a while back. That’s fine with me! I feel bad for anyone who has ties to drumpf fans

Secret Gardens

I’ve been asked to chair a committee here in Cape May for the 2nd annual Secret Garden Tour. It’s part of the Cape May Forum and last year I participated by providing a painting of mine that was auctioned off, as well as helping to set up the luncheon after the garden tour.     The baton has been passed to me and, to be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed with the responsibility. Things went smoothly, from my view, last year and raised a decent amount of money which goes toward educational and cultural initiatives through affiliate programs

The Women’s March, an International Statement!

All hail the Women’s Marches all over the world! If anyone doubted this was a movement they underestimated us BIGLY. It was awe inspiring! I was thrilled to be a part of this movement with my husband by my side. Dave with our sign. We left home at 8 am and got to Philly at 9:30 am. We were able to park in our church parking lot, which was a blessing. No pun intended. It was a straight walk up to Market St. to get the T and head to where the action was taking place. The trains were

There’s Going To Be Some Changes Made…

Here we are in inauguration week and, I don’t know about you but, I’m in kind of a funk. I’ve decided to keep my politics on Huffington Post and try to stay more upbeat here on my blog. I will share the links and hope you’ll read the posts there, but if you are weary of politics I understand. Here’s the latest one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/587d22fce4b094e1aa9dc89b?timestamp=1484686269968   That said, I would like to ask all of you how you’re handling this new world order. Dave and I are planning to join the Women’s March in Philadelphia on Saturday, which I hope

A Heartache Tonight

Part of me can’t wait for 2016 to morph into 2017 and another part of me is fearful of how much worse it’s going to be. I see nothing good coming from this transition of power. I am and have been determined to push back at every opportunity to hold this new regime’s feet to the fire but, lately, I’ve become very sad. I’m not a crier by nature. Crying never helped me through any of the tough times in my past but, suddenly the slightest thing puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Many
