The 2017 Philadelphia Flower Show!

It has been a strange winter and it looks like spring is going to be just as weird. February was almost spring like and March has roared in with a blizzard for some and hurricane force winds for others. We’re getting battered here at the shore but, we’re kind of used to that and there’s no shoveling involved. So, today seems like the perfect day to share our trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show. I took a few (*ahem* maybe 50) pictures to show you. Let’s start at the entrance…     The theme this year was ‘Holland’ and

Never Give Up!

It has been a rough week for me. I blame drumpf.     Dave got a cold and I got bronchitis. Don’t ask me why because, if I knew that I could defend against it. It’s been a few years since I’ve had this perpetual coughing jag and I wasn’t missing it, that’s for sure. Of course, I waited until I simply couldn’t take the coughing any longer before I went to the doctor. After a good listen to the rattling chest she came back into the room with a nebulizer for me to suck on while she ordered up

The Nuclear Football a Party Favor?

It has been two weeks since my last post here on the blog. I apologize for slacking but, I’ve been a little depressed and empty of words that make sense or, at least seem to have meaning.     I had intended to keep the politics off this site and use HuffPost for all of that but, I know many of you are political junkies like me and share the same views. I’m sure those who don’t have left this cyberspace a while back. That’s fine with me! I feel bad for anyone who has ties to drumpf fans

We All Need A Good Laugh!

How are you all holding up these days? I feel as if I’m losing my mind some days. Most days, really. I keep hoping to see more sanity in the world but, since we have the most mentally challenged Executive Branch of government the World has ever seen, it may be hopeless.   This is why I record Colbert, Kimmel, Samantha Bee, SNL, and soon John Oliver will be back, too. I still miss Jon Stewart but, he did make a surprise appearance on Colbert last week and gave me a good laugh. Laughter is not only good medicine,

Secret Gardens

I’ve been asked to chair a committee here in Cape May for the 2nd annual Secret Garden Tour. It’s part of the Cape May Forum and last year I participated by providing a painting of mine that was auctioned off, as well as helping to set up the luncheon after the garden tour.     The baton has been passed to me and, to be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed with the responsibility. Things went smoothly, from my view, last year and raised a decent amount of money which goes toward educational and cultural initiatives through affiliate programs

The Women’s March, an International Statement!

All hail the Women’s Marches all over the world! If anyone doubted this was a movement they underestimated us BIGLY. It was awe inspiring! I was thrilled to be a part of this movement with my husband by my side. Dave with our sign. We left home at 8 am and got to Philly at 9:30 am. We were able to park in our church parking lot, which was a blessing. No pun intended. It was a straight walk up to Market St. to get the T and head to where the action was taking place. The trains were

There’s Going To Be Some Changes Made…

Here we are in inauguration week and, I don’t know about you but, I’m in kind of a funk. I’ve decided to keep my politics on Huffington Post and try to stay more upbeat here on my blog. I will share the links and hope you’ll read the posts there, but if you are weary of politics I understand. Here’s the latest one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/587d22fce4b094e1aa9dc89b?timestamp=1484686269968   That said, I would like to ask all of you how you’re handling this new world order. Dave and I are planning to join the Women’s March in Philadelphia on Saturday, which I hope

It’s Been a Lovely Cruise

I know I’m not the only one who is more than ready for a vacation right now. I took a little trip down memory lane today and posted on Huffington Post about the cruise we took in 2008. Aaahhh, it was bringing back some wonderful memories and a pull to take another trip. I’m researching River Cruises now. I thought I would share it with you here, and ask you to share your favorite vacation story. Have you gone on a cruise? Maybe you went on a ski trip? Whatever it is, feel free to share a piece of

A Heartache Tonight

Part of me can’t wait for 2016 to morph into 2017 and another part of me is fearful of how much worse it’s going to be. I see nothing good coming from this transition of power. I am and have been determined to push back at every opportunity to hold this new regime’s feet to the fire but, lately, I’ve become very sad. I’m not a crier by nature. Crying never helped me through any of the tough times in my past but, suddenly the slightest thing puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Many

New York State of Mind

Christmas time is special to me. My last post was about the good and bad memories of the holidays and how things change as your family grows. This year we had our youngest son and his family here for the weekend prior to Christmas. It brings you back to those days of yore when you see the holiday through the eyes of a six-year-old!     Midweek my oldest son gave me an early Christmas gift, Alvin Ailey in NYC! We took the train up and got to the theater just in time. The performances were all choreographed by
