Random Ranting, and Some Good News!

I have been diligently working on the memoir, and the first draft is almost finished! WOOHOO!

Just wanted you to know why the blog has been, somewhat, neglected most of this summer. But, as you know, I turn to all of you whenever a rant has built up to the point of making my head explode. I hope you understand and realize how much I need and appreciate you for times like these.

The memoir has been a way for me to escape the crazy news about the idiot in chief, if only for a few hours a day, and focus on the insanity of my childhood.

We thought things would settle down when Bannon left, and Kelly started babysitting but, no. It’s like whack-a-mole anymore. One fleeting moment he does something close to sane and the next he’s off the rails again.

There won’t be any calming or feeling of relief until this idiot gets impeached or put in jail. Frankly, I prefer the latter, and I hope Arpaio goes with him. They could be cell mates! After all, it seems like a bromance with those two.

So, let’s see, what else is going on around here? Oh, I recently had the pleasure of feeling like a befuddled old lady when we got a wireless/ Bluetooth speaker.

I’ve never had music on my phone. I don’t enjoy wearing headphones and, honestly, most of my phone’s capacity is used up with photographs. Hey, I can’t help myself. But, it was time to get my own music. Dave has tons of music on his phone, mostly classic rock and maybe a little jazz.

So, when we got the speaker, we were only listening to his music. I love me some classic rock. I worked for a classic rock radio station once upon a time. But, I prefer more variety.

I love jazz, especially in the evening. When I’m writing, I prefer classical music. I’m listening to Segovia right now, and it’s soothing until the commercials from Pandora blare on.

I had Spotify on yesterday, and it’s less disruptive but, I haven’t found the perfect fit yet. Any suggestions? I do not have Apple anything. I have a Samsung phone, and I love it, especially for the camera! So, please, let me know if you have a station you love.

The other big news here is the main bathroom. We are gutting and redoing it, and I can’t wait!! I was hoping it would be done before our friends from Key West got here later next week but, guess what…IRMA!!

We told them to come up ASAP when evacuation seemed imminent. They thought they could get a flight out of Key West or Miami, but, no. Even Ft. Lauderdale was booked solid! So they are driving to Orlando today and taking a Delta flight up first thing in the morning.

We hope everyone gets out safely and has a place to return to when the storm is over. If only we could shove Rush Windbag into the vortex of the storm. All the climate deniers should be forced to clean up after these horrible storms.

It really seems like God, or whoever you may believe in, is really pissed at us lately, and how we’ve managed our planet and is blatantly punishing us. Between Harvey, and now Irma, there are the horrible fires out West. We have one idiot in North Korea taunting the idiot in Washington D.C., while he’s pretending to be ‘Presidential.’ All of it interferes with any degree of peace of mind.

Did you see that shit show last week? He goes out with his little lady in stilettos and pretends to be visiting the flood area while never going near it. Then gets called out and decides to go back and help. HA!

I can’t remember which one but, one of the WaPo op-eds mentioned he had obviously never even helped a college friend carry a box into a dorm. He probably didn’t stay in a dorm, and I doubt he had friends, but you get the gist.

He goes up to a flood victim who was in an empty pick-up truck and hands him a stack of buckets through the driver’s window and then reached over them to shake the guy’s hand. When someone handed drumpf a box, he tossed it into the truck bed and another one on top of it. As the guy begins to drive away, the orange anus says, “Enjoy!” Then he turned toward the camera and gave ‘em a big grin.

Oh, and he briefly visited a shelter to hand out hot dogs and before he left he AUTOGRAPHED THE WALL! A true WTF moment!

Ok, I’m done ranting for today but, I do have GOOD news before I close.

I have a publisher for my memoir!!!!!

Donna Cavenaugh, the owner of ShoreHouse Books, has agreed to publish for me! I can’t tell you how excited I am. I love the way she does business and the support she provides throughout the process and way beyond.

So, that’s what’s going on in my world, what’s going on with you? To those still in or gearing up for these horrible storms, I pray you stay safe.

I love a good rant, but there’s no way I can be articulate when speaking of HIM. Where the hell did we go wrong, really? I don’t get it, even though I’ve lived everywhere, crossed social classes, traveled, and educated myself. UGH

Congratulations on the writing of a memoir!

    • Barbara

Thank you, Anita. I know, it’s hard to articulate the idiot, primarily because he is inarticulate! I hope we are about to turn a corner and put him away!

  2. Roxanne Jones

Congratulations on your progress with the memoir, Barbara! And I’m sure working with Donna will be a wonderful experience. Good for you! As for the other crap…I’m suffering from outrage fatigue, and am saving my emotional energy for the poor folks dealing with the f**king hurricanes and fires. Man, we really have pissed off someone.

    • Barbara

We have definitely pissed off someone out there! It gets scarier every day. The liar in chief isn’t helping!
Thanks for the encouraging words, Roxanne. I love Donna!!

  3. Harry

Barbara, although I agree with you, your language is very offending!
I hope and pray that president Donald Trump will change his ways.

    And you know what?
He has not succeeded with any of his proposals!

Have a great day and pray for everyone who are affected by Irma!

    • Barbara

Thanks for commenting, Harry, but if my language offends you, you’ll probably not like it here.

  4. Janie Emaus

    Congrats on the memoir!

Amazon Prime has much free music and then it has a program with millions of songs for, I believe, $4.95 a month. I say: “Alexa play Levon Helm” and five hours later….Their music program works on any device I believe. If I’ve heard about someone but don’t know them I can listen to one song or as many as they have. It’s pretty frigging incredible, I think.

    • Barbara

Thank you, Pia! I have a prime account and I will check this out! Stay safe down there!!

I listen to AccuRadio. Love it!
I SO wish we could just watch that man’s antics on reality TV. Where he doesn’t have the power to hurt anyone except those unfortunate enough to have to work directly with him on each episode. The fact that his inanity affects millions is beyond comprehension.
Any way we can put the storm center in one particular spot? Where another storm center is already brewing? It would solve so many problems.

I’m crazy excited you have a publisher!!! OMG! That’s huge! I’m envious that you’ve carved out the time to write. Writing a memoir is more and more on my mind. I’m amazed I’m still alive and sane… little odd, but that’s okay. I’ll take it. Please keep up posted!!! Yay!! xoxox, Brenda

    • Barbara

Thank you, Brenda!! Personally, I can’t wait for your memoir! You have had such an amazing life I know it will be a great read!

  8. Lisa Taylor

Nothing the orange one does surprises me anymore. I’m been living in a prolonged state of shock since last November.
That’s wonderful news about your memoir! Congratulations!

    • Barbara

I think most of us who love this country have been in different degrees of shock since he got in, Lisa. It makes me very sad and really makes me MAD!
Thanks for the support of the memoir!

  9. Rena

Congratulations! For the bathroom and most especially the book! I look forward to reading it. Also, on a side note, I received your message and will send you an email in the morning.
